Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Real Madrid and return to the Premier League and is already looking for a home in England, according to reports. The Portuguese ace is believed to have fallen out with Real president Florentino Perez after he made comments hinting that Neymar should move to the Bernabeu on the very same day that Ronaldo was collecting his fifth Ballon d’Or. Perez’s lack of respect, coupled with Ronaldo’s perceived unfair treatment by the Spanish press during his summer tax case as well as Real’s poor form this season, have all contributed to his desire to leave.
Recent reports have also suggested that he is unhappy with Perez’s refusal to offer him a lucrative new contract to match Lionel Messi, while he wants his buy-out clause reduced to a mere £89m. And now The Daily Mirror claim former club Manchester United are on alert and ready to offer him an escape route, with Ronaldo already looking at homes in England.
The 32-year-old wants to send his son, Cristiano Jnr, to a private school in England and secretly visited several of the top fee-paying schools in the country over the last month. A source told the paper: ‘He’s also looked at possible homes in Leatherhead in Surrey and even a flat in central London.
‘It’s obviously something that he’s very seriously considering, but he’s yet to sign on the dotted line yet anywhere.’ United have long been linked with a move to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford – having left to join Real Madrid for a then world record fee in 2009 – and both Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward would welcome him back with open arms now.
