60th Independence Day parade held in Tamale
GNA – Pupils, students, security services, voluntary organisations and professional bodies on Monday mounted a parade at the Tamale Jubilee Park to mark the country’s 60th Independence Anniversary celebrations.
Mr Salifu Saeed, Northern Regional Minister took the salute to mark the day, which was on the theme: “Mobilising for Ghana’s Future”.
The Regional Minister also read the address of the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, saying “We must take pride in our diversity by all means, but the Ghanaian must always rise above the ethnic or sectional interest.”
He said “We have a bright future and we must mobilise all our resources and all our strengths, here and in the Ghanaian Diaspora to get to that Promised Land faster.”
He complained about the state of the country’s environment saying “There is nothing we can do better to pay homage to those who fought to free us from bondage than to dedicate this 60th Independence anniversary to protecting our environment and regenerating the lands and water bodies.”
