4Rainbow 87.5FM’s Agyemang Prempeh, popularly known as Agyengo, is gradually positioning himself to be one of the most influential media personalities in his field of work, if he has not already.
With more than one radio show under his belt, the diminutive presenter has an impressive following, especially for his two popular shows, ‘Gh. Entertainment’ and ‘Rainbow Church’, held on Saturdays and Sundays respectively.
Honestly, his status has risen tremendously since his bold decision to move from Channel R 92.7FM to Rainbow Radio; winning two major awards for his stellar performance over the last two or so years.
Agyemang Prempeh comes across as very pious personality and his time at the Christian-oriented station, Channel R did fortify his faith, and getting him closer to many producers, musicians and others affiliated with Ghanaian gospel music. The experience has somehow made him a respected fellow within the gospel fraternity.
However, for the past years, it has been observed that Agyengo has developed some stern stance when it comes to gospel artistes as he puts them under critical scrutiny and doesn’t hesitate to bash them at the least opportunity.
On his ‘Rainbow Church’ programme every Sunday, he always gets some prophecy about some gospel artiste not making a hit song anymore, or some gospel artiste engaged in a fraud case, or a premonition of a gospel artiste entangled in adultery.
Every week, Agyengo has something to say about a gospel artiste; Brother, why? Are you the official angel assigned to look over gospel artistes? Let them breathe! Are you the originator and endorser of hit songs?
Hardly do we hear him make positive prophecies about the gospel acts; like say – a gospel artiste will win international awards or a gospel artiste will hit big or a gospel artiste will give birth to triplets or a gospel artiste will find a husband or wife, or, a gospel artiste will win a lottery, yes, lottery.
He is undoubtedly a very opinionated personality and rarely hides his feelings on issues, especially with regards to the gospel sector but the concern being raised is simple; the same God who gives him the negative prophecies about the gospel acts, is the same Jehovah who reveals positive news, unless, his (Agyengo) eyes are not friendly to positive news.
What’s quite upsetting over the many prophecies he makes public on his radio shows is that; he refuses to mention the names of the gospel artistes involved, creating unnecessary confusion in the minds of listeners and lovers of gospel music.
A simple advice for Agyengo is this; nobody can stop God from giving you the prophecies but it’s none of our business, especially if you are going to raise the issues on radio and not mention the names of the personalities involved. Please, call the artistes on phone and tell them about your revelations and pray with them for deliverance.
Nobody is asking Agyengo not to speak but he should relax with his constant jabbing on gospel artistes, making it seem as though, the fraternity is messed up and needs salvation.
‘Gh. Entertainment’ is on Saturdays, 4pm and ‘Rainbow Church’ is also on Sundays 6:30am. Agyemang nie… Rainbow nie.
