Popular Ghanaian broadcast journalist, Fiifi Banson is set to launch a new sports channel in February.
Platinum Sports, a 24-hour channel available on digital, has been running test transmission for some time now.
It is dedicated to sports, and has so far been screening a mix of foreign and local content for its test transmission.
In an interview with Pulse.com.gh during the signing of a partnership agreement with allsports.com.gh, Mr Banson said Platinum Sports TV, which would be launched in February, 2015, has put indispensable measures in place to give Ghanaian sports fans a new digital experience. It will broadcast all the sporting discipline around the world. The new station, according to him, has also come to promote the local sporting discipline.
He added, “Platinum Sports TV is a digital platform for 24 hours sports which a lot of people already know we are creating this year. We are here to basically do 24 hours sports because of the background that the company has. It’s not just a football station like I keep emphasizing — which means, every sporting discipline will have an opportunity to be shown.”
“We are putting together all the goods that will make it possible for us to have quality contents for our viewers. Some of us are well known for critics so we will make sure that we put together a solid package for Platinum Sports – quality sports presentation, quality studio work and quality productions. Those are the quotations we should have on Platinum Sports.”
Fiifi Banson, the current evening drive host on Accra-based Peace FM, is a known name in media circles. Before joining Peace FM, he worked for Radio Gold.
