Photos: Give me a movie role – Doreen Andoh turns 20 years @ Multimedia.
Veteran radio presenter Doreen Andoh says she is relishing the opportunity to branch into the movie industry and wants movie producers to match up to her challenge.
“My friends keep telling me I will be good at it….so I am alerting folks to give me a role”, her excitement at the prospects was self-evident.
Arguably the most outstanding female private radio station presenter, Doreen told myjoyonline.com, the key to her success in the media industry has always been because of an undying attitude to say ‘yes’ to any challenge.
Her relish for a different challenge comes as Doreen Wilhelmina Akua Andoh, Joy FM’s presenter of Cosmopolitan Mix celebrated 20 years at Multimedia.
“I will extol You O Lord for You have raised me.. Ps 30, 1. Today 28th June 2015 I celebrate my 20th radio birthday and I praise and thank God for how far He has brought me…thus I thought I should take you down memorable lane with all these photos.” she took to social media to announce the milestone.
Doreen was Joy FM in 1995 when the station became the first licensed private radio station in Ghana.
She has since invested unparalleled years of loyalty and historic faithfulness to the brand. Doreen is the longest serving member of staff of the Multimedia team with the exception of – of course – the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kwesi Twum.
Recalling what she went through to get to the top of her game, the graduate of Columbia School of Broadcasting in U.S, Doreen Andoh told myjoyonline that early in her media career she realised the only way to survive in the industry was to play to her strengths.
Blessed with an ear for good music and a mind to know when to play them, Doreen built her brand around the Cosmopolitan Mix, a late morning lifestyle and music program.
Doreen says she had to develop an array of skills in order to not only host the program but also double as its producer.
“I never had a producer” she said and explained how she had to learn sound engineering to help her solve problems while in the studio. According to the veteran, a compelling mindset she has cultivated is to understand that in life “you are always a student, never the teacher”.
The multiple-award winner revealed she was putting together a TV production and with the blessing of funding, will soon host a TV program.
