Gregory Afoko denied bail again
The Accra High Court has for the second time denied bail to Gregory Afoko, the man accused of killing the former Upper East Regional Chairman of the NPP, Alhaji Adams Mahama.
The court, presided over by Mr Justice Lawrence ruled that the interest of justice would be better served if Afoko remained in custody.
The ruling by the court followed an application for bail by Afoko’s lawyer, Mr Osafo Buabeng.
Mr Buabeng argued that his client had been in custody since his arrest on May 21, 2015.
He added that if his client was granted bail, he (Afoko) was prepared to appear in court at all times.
On July 28, 2016, the court denied a similar bail application by Afoko’s legal team on the basis of security.
Afoko has been indicted on two counts of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
