“9-year-old Ghanaian boxer tauted as the next Floyd Mayweather”
Accra, March 27, GNA – Joseph Awinongya Jr., a 9-year-old Ghanaian boxer, has been likened to world boxing great, Floyd Mayweather Jr, by observers at Chicago’s Sports & Fitness Club in the United States of America (USA).
Many pundits believe the 9-year-old could emulate the legendary boxer, Mayweather Jr.
Awinogya Jr, at his tender age comes with a lot of technique and strength comparable to the Mayweather Jr.
Awinogya Jr, affectionately called the ‘Golden child’ has now become number one in the USA, having fought sixteen times already.
He is the reigning National silver Gloves champion in the 80lb division. The young boxer has gained a lot of attention at a very tender age and has therefore been touted as a future great by the bookmakers in the United States.
According to his father, Joseph Awinongya, his son has a dream of becoming a world champion in the future and he is committed to making him achieve his dream.
“My son Jojo, has not lost his roots and where boxing is a major sport with a number of World Champions. At this tender age, Jojo is already talking of being a Champion someday and I’m committed to ensuring that he realize his dreams. As a former boxer I have what it takes to guide him to the greater heights.”
Joseph Awinongya Jr is casted for his first movie, dubbed ‘I am your keeper’ which is directed by Joel Kapity.
