NADEF to hold quiz on core subjects for Basic Schools- Chairperson, Board of Trustees
The Chairperson of Board of Trustees of Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation( NADeF), Monica Nkrumah, has stated that soon NADeF will stage inter – basic schools quiz on core subjects for all schools in the Asutifi North and Tano North districts in the Brong Ahafo region.
She made this known at the grand finale of the inter – schools quiz for public schools based only on NADeF issues held at Womanhinso where six schools competed.
She explained, NADeF is here to ensure that the citizens where Newmont Ahafo Gold Limited operate get not only the best of education but also benefit from other developmental projects per the proposal of the community members.
Monica Nkrumah added that it had come to their notice that most pupils were not well versed in the core subjects ( mathematics, English, science and social studies) and it was preventing most from furthering their education as expected. As such NADeF deemed it necessary to assist the pupils in those areas to boost their knowledge.
She applauded all the finalists for showing excellent display at the grand finale on facts and figures of NADeF and urged them to go on to educate both family and colleagues in all related NADeF issues since most people at the communities did not know much about the NADeF.
Six schools (D/A Girls, Womanhinso R/C, Kwakyekrom, Yamfo Islamic, Susuanso and Effisipa) took part in the grand finale with D/A Basic Girls of Kenyasi emerging as winners with 31 points. Susuanso placing second with 27 points and the third position went to Kwakyekrom with 26points.
A set of drums, notebooks and school bags were given to the winners and participants.
Gracing the occasion were Education executives, NADeF executives, Chiefs, Sustainable Development Community members, Headteachers, teachers, pupils and the media.
