A.B Crentsil To Be Crowned Highlife Legend

Ace Highlife musician A.B Crentsil will be crowned as the next highlife legend at this year’s Legends and Legacy Ball.

Alfred Benjamin Crentsil Jr. was born to the late Alfred Benjamin Crentsil Snr. and Esi Yaaba at Potsen in the 1940s. He was always known as A.B junior until his father http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Father died in 1984 and then he assumed the A.B Crentsil name without the junior.

Although the rumour mills have it that  ‘Mr. Music man’ Kojo Antwi was penciled as the next in line of local musicians  to be celebrated this  year, sources close to this paper have it that  Kojo’s annual Christmas show is likely to come between him and the award.

Reasons making the rounds in media quarters suggest that Kojo Antwi was demanding that his December 24 show, slated for this year, which is a traditional celebration on the Christmas calendar should be sponsored as part of his prize package for the Legends and Legacy Ball event.

Players in the music industry have watched with disappointment the current developments about the organization of the Legends and Legacy Ball.

Imajin Advertising, organisers of the annual Legacy and Legacy (LAL) Ball which honours outstanding Ghanaian musicians, say the artiste to be honoured this year will be unveiled on Thursday, November 7 at the Oak Plaza Hotel on the Spintex Road in Accra.

The LAL Ball series was started in 2011 with Daddy Lumba as the first honouree. Amakye Dede took turn in 2012.

Some of the names that were being bandied about for the award include Kojo Antwi, Pat Thomas, Nana Ampadu, A.B Crentsil, Jewel Ackah and Paapa Yankson.

The LAL Ball, according to Kojo Soboh, Events and Promotions Manager at Imajin Advertising, has been slated for the end of November.
