Black Starlets to face Niger in the African Youth Championship Semis
GNA – The Black Starlets of Ghana would face the young Menas of Niger in the semi-final stage of the African youth Championship in Gabon after finishing as Group A leaders.
The young Menas’ 1-0 victory over Tanzania was enough to secure them a spot in the Semi-final stage of the competition as they finished as runners up in Group B.
The starlets progressed to the semis in a fine fashion, scoring nine goals without conceding, however, their counterpart qualified in a dramatic manner, scoring four and conceding four goals in their Group B encounters.
Earlier in their preparations towards the 2017 African Youth Championship, the starlets recorded 2-0 consecutive victories over the Nigeriens at the Accra Sport Stadium.
The winner at Port Gentil on Wednesday would face either Mali or Guinea in the grand finale at Libreville on May 28.
Having qualified for the FIFA U-17 World Youth Championship in India in October, this year, the Ghanaians would seek to win the world competition for the first time in 19 years.
