Ghanaian Footballer Solomon Nyantakyi Admits Murdering His Mother and Sister

Former Parma player Solomon Nyantakyi has confessed to the murder of his mother and 11-year-old sister.

Per AS, the Ghanaian admitted to the crime on Wednesday after being stopped by police at Milan train station, having fled his home upon killing his mother Nfum Patience, 43, and sister, Magdalene Nyantakyi on Tuesday night.

According to The Sun’s Andrew Richardson, his brother, Raymond Nyantakyi, discovered their bodies stabbed to death after returning home from work.

The Sun also shared the Italian state police’s tweet regarding Nyantakyi’s confession:

His father, Fred Nyantakyi, was in London at the time for work.

Per Richardson, Cristiano Lucarelli, who managed the midfielder during his time as Parma’s youth coach, said:

“From his behaviour in the Parma youth team, you could tell he had problems, but he never—and I mean never—raised his voice, argued with anyone or reacted out of turn.

“I did know he suffered from depression and I tried to get him to train with my team Cuoiopelli in Lega Pro, 125 miles from Parma.

“He stayed with us for 15 days, then ran away. He came to me and said he missed his family, his friends, his home. I thought it was just nostalgia. I am truly stunned.”

According to Football Italia, former Parma boss Roberto Donadoni added: “I remember Solomon, he trained with us at Parma and I had him on the bench more than once during Serie A games. I remember he was very calm, even taciturn. If it really was him who did this, I can’t think what went through his mind.”

Nyantakyi made 44 appearances for Parma’s Primavera side but was released when the club went bankrupt in 2015.

He joined Serie D side Imolese last summer after a spell with Tuttocuio’s youth side, but he was let go after just one season having reportedly fallen in “with a bad crowd,” according to Richardson.
