Ghanaians to enjoy ‘stable power’ during Christmas
The Volta River Authority (VRA) has assured of stable power during the Yuletide though users have been advised to ensure a high sense of energy conservation.
“I cannot tell beyond that how things will go because the demand keeps growing,” Samuel Kwesi Fletcher, the Head of VRA’s Corporate Communications, cautioned in an exclusive interview with TV3’s Sandra Amarquye on Thursday, November 28, 2013.
“So far, the picture looks good for the Christmas period. I think we are going to have stable power,” he assured.
What Mr Fletcher was concerned about is the upsurge in power use during that period.
“During the Christmas period, we know people use a lot of power. People will have to use power wisely.”
He also assured that the power situation in the country currently is stable “but it is not a situation that is fully sustainable.”
“In fact, it is not because given the demand, if the power sector is going to get stable, it calls for a lot of investment,” Mr Fletcher said.
He said if government fails to provide assured subsidies, provision of stable power is going to be interrupted.
“If we really are going to speed up our project, we need those monies.”
