I am not an occult, I am a full Christian – Jupiter.
Popularly known as Jupitar, Michael O. Mint took his turn on the Ntoatoa show. The fast rising Dancehall artist who started his musical journey in his elementary days in Korle- Gono said the name ‘JUPITAR’ was given to him by his father because his father wanted him to be big as the planet Jupiter.
While growing up, Jupitar gathered a lot of inspiration from his father who was a guitarist.
“I had the inspiration from him (father) and growing up as a son of a musician I actually impacted a little bit of his musical talents”.
The Korle-Gono born said he has been in the game for 20 years but his last 11 years has seen him in the lame light and he is currently the one holding Korle-Gono.
He added that in Ghana he can be called Ghana Heavyweight Dancehall Superstar.
“I do 100% dancehall, I don’t mix up. You can use African Heavyweight Dancehall Superstar as well. I will feature local singing artist like I did with Sarkodie but my brand is 100% dancehall. I don’t mix up because we are making history”.
The artist who has his fun base in Korle- Gono said people actually never knew that he was a Ghanaian when he released his first song.
He said his first hit song was ‘Money Box’ but currently his best track is Enemies and there is no doubt about it because it is a song that relates to human. “We all have a lot of enemies” the artist said.
When asked how he is handling fame Jupitar said as an artist you have to know how to manage the fame and cope with it so as to avoid trouble.
“In Ghana if you are an artist and don’t take care of yourself you might end up in trouble” Jupitar said”.
Regarding rumours that he was an occultist, the artist had this to say,
“Ghanaians and their Ntoatoa….I am a full time Christian”.
When asked if he has a ‘beef’ with Shatta Wale the African Heavyweight Dancehall Superstar said Shatta Wale is his senior brother”. He also added that he is not a fun of such rivalry and has never had any issues with any dancehall artist.
“Maybe someone wants to engage me in some sort of rivalry but it doesn’t work out. I am always in my tight corner thinking about myself. But if I say I will face you, it will be something else, but that is not necessary. I am just focused for now trying to get to the next level”.
He continued by saying that the future is very bright so people should expect more marvelous work and surprises from him.
“There are more things to come and I’m still learning so you can imagine when I get there. It’s going to be an explosion”.
The African Heavyweight Dancehall Superstar said he is currently reaching out to his fans that don’t have the chance to meet or see him.
“Most of the shows are expensive and they (fans) cannot pay so I am putting up my own concert which is the ‘Enemies Tour’ which starts from Korle- Gono Beach”.
Jupitar however expressed his gratitude to his fans much especially the wonderful people of Korle-Gono for their support.
