I will support HWISEC for students to pass Core Subjects (EMS) – MP Dauda Says
The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Asutifi South Constituency in the Brong Ahafo region,(Hon.) Collins Dauda, has assured the management, education directorate, parents of supporting the students of Hwidiem Senior High School to pass the three core subjects.
Addressing the crowd at the 45th anniversary of the school under the theme ” HWISEC @ 45 : Our Achievements, Challenges and the Way Forward in Sustaining the Free SHS Programme” , Hon. Dauda said the core subjects (English language, Mathematics and Science popularly called EMS) have been an obstacle to most students to further their education to tertiary level and it was time to change the trend.
He narrated, teachers are doing their best to ensure that the EMS are well understood by students but up to date it is obvious that students excel more in elective subjects as compared to the core subjects and it was time to tackle the reason why.
He disclosed that he is in talks with the authorities of the school to equip the teachers to go to the extreme to use all methods to teach them so that the students do just as well as they do for the elective subjects.
Hon. Dauda went a step further to say that he would even sell his properties to support the initiative.
The anniversary held on the school park was attended by the Deputy Education Minister, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Representatives of Former President Kuffour, Education Executives from both the district and region, the clergy, old students, Parents, continuing students and the public.
