Kobby Akyeampong appointed to head GYEEDA
President John Mahama has appointed Mr. Kwabena Akyeampong, a Marketing Communications Professional and former Deputy Minister for the Interior, to be in charge of the restructuring and reorganization of the operations of the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA).
Mr. Akyeampong, who will be reporting to the Chief of Staff, will be responsible for the management of GYEEDA, and coordinate the President’s directive for a full restructuring and development of a bill to be presented to parliament to govern the operations of the Agency.
A former deputy minister for tourism, and later interior, Mr. Akyeampong is also a former Director of Studies at the African University College of Communications in Accra.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Sedina Tamakloe Attionu has also been appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Micro and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC). Until her appointment, Sedina was the Coordinator of the National Youth Authority.
A pharmacist by profession, Mrs. Attionu also holds a post graduate certificate in Project Management from GIMPA and a Masters in International Retail Marketing from the University of Surrey in the UK.
MASLOC, an agency under the Office of the President, is a microfinance apex body responsible for implementing the government’s microfinance programmes targeted at reducing poverty, creating jobs and wealth.
