No Tribe Yet to Receive Their Prize Car.
Hurray! The highly-anticipated home-made Katanka cars have been launched and are already on sale.
Modern KOSA Automobile, manufacturers of the popular brand of cars has released three different range of the brand including the Kantanka Onantefuo (SUV), Kantanka Omama (Pickup) and Kantanka K71 (Mini SUV).
With the release of the new brand of cars, it was highly expected that, gospel music group, No Tribe, would finally be given their car, as prize for annexing the Gospel Artiste of the Year in the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Unfortunately, the group, as at the time this report was filed, was still without the Kantanka car that was promised them by the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).
The group was assured of getting the prize car after the Awards ceremony, but after months of waiting; MUSIGA, the sponsors of that category, stated that, KOSA were putting final touches to the manufacturing of the car and that, the car would be presented to the group 2 months ago.
The brand new fleet of Kantanka cars was launched last week and days after the impressive ceremony, nothing has been heard about the famous group getting the car.
When Razz Newspaper got in touch the group, they stated that, they have not received the car.
Nana Poku Ashis, Manager for the award-winning group stated that, they went to the MUSIGA offices last Wednesday to see Obour to get updates on how they were going to receive the car especially when news of the launch was all over the place.
According to him, Obour promised them that, they were going to take receipt of the car come the Friday, November 27, 2015.
Ashis claimed that, they called Obour a day before the grand launch, just to find out the arrangements on how they were going to pick the car but unfortunately, several calls to his (Obour’s) line were unanswered.
Interestingly, the launch of the vehicles witnessed some celebrities undergoing a test-drive of the cars and No Tribe, the group which is suppose to officially drive one of the cars to showcase it around the country, as part of their prize for winning the VGMA Award – were not present for the Celebrity Test Drive.
The likes of Kwabena Kwabena, Deborah Vanessa, Ekow Smith- Asante, James Gardiner and others were present for the test drive.
No Tribe won the category, ‘Gospel Artiste of the Year’ and were expected to walk home with a car, produced by KOSA Automobile and sponsored by MUSIGA, the same outfit that ensured that the likes of R2Bees and Joey B, all won cars for winning different categories in the last 3 years of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
