Obengkrom lacks basic amenities
A visit made by the Anapua News Team today at Obengkrom in the Asutifi North District in the Brong Ahafo region reveals that the residents lack several basic amenities.
This town with a population of over 1000 people has only one public toilet facility. It was recently built by the assembly and has the capacity of accommodating six users at a time (3 male and female).
The residents are unhappy with the position of the public latrine since it is far from the residence of many. Aside this, due to the limited capacity users often times have to stand in queue to use the facility. As such most still make use of the old wooden and dangerous structures which was first used despite the assembly warning them not to used it again. Others also relieve themselves wherever they deem fit.

The team again notice that the town lacks potable drinking water to be used for daily activities. It has only one bore hole tap at the centre of the town but it does not flow as expected.School children find it so challenging to get water to drink during school hours.
We visited the teachers bungalow constructed by the assembly few years back and saw that there is no running water making the use of the toilet facility cumbersome for residents.
Most teachers posted to the school are unhappy about the situation and have pushed the problem to the Assembly but yet there is no sign of helping.
The news team has prompted the Assembly with the challenges of people at Obengkrom and hoping to hear positive response in the days ahead.
