Ohemaa Mercy Guns For Western Africa Artiste.
She is one of the country’s finest female gospel artistes and goes by the name Mercy Twum Ampofo popularly known on the gospel music scene as Ohemaa Mercy.
A teacher by profession, she has strived to become a great force in Ghana’s gospel industry. This radio-show host debuted into the industry with the vision to encourage, to win souls for the Kingdom of God, and to draw the attention of his listeners to Jesus through her music. While enjoying massive airplay and numerous awards to her name, this songbird remains resilient about her role as apostle of the Gospel of Jesus.
As Groove Awards celebrate this year’s annual Gospel award show in Kenya, Ghana’s Ohemaa Mercy has received a nomination in the category for Western Africa Artiste of the Year scheduled to come off at the Machakos People’s Park in Kenya on Monday, June 1.
Her outstanding talent puts her in the same category with Frank Edwards-Nigeria, Lara George- Nigeria, Nathaniel Bassey- Nigeria, Sinach- Nigeria and Solomon Lange- Nigeria who are also battling for the same crown.
Groove Awards is the annual awards ceremony held annually. It seeks to promote, expose and celebrate outstanding Gospel Artists.
Founded in 2004, Groove Awards has honoured over 600 artists and groups and handed out hundreds of statuettes.

Gh Music Awards
The prolific singer’s releases attracted seven nominations for the 2006 Ghana Music Awards but couldn’t win any of the awards. She later won the ‘Discovery of The Year’ in the gospel music category in the same year.
In 2007 Ohemaa released a new album entitled, ‘Edin Jesus’ and the album was very successful, as over 875,000 copies of the CDs were sold in 2008.
This album won Ohemaa 10 nominations for the 2008 Ghana Music Awards. It was the highest number of nominations so far in respect of a single album in the history of the Awards Scheme. She won three of the major trophies.
Ohemaa Mercy in November 2009, released a massive hit album entitled, ‘Wobeye Kese’ which won the heart of many across African the continent and the world at large.
She won the Gospel Artiste of The Year 2010 for the second time during the Ghana Music Awards ceremony.
She received another nomination for the African Gospel Music Award Held in the United Kingdom (UK). She later grabbed the Gospel Artiste Of the Year-Canada 2010 Award.
Ohemaa Mercy has performed on a number of platforms both in Ghana Europe and America, and is still going strong.
In 2013, Ohemaa Mercy launched her fifth album, His Word, and according to the Adanfo Papa singer, her nomination is a booster for the Ghanaian gospel music scene and used the opportunity to appeal to her fans to vote for her to bring the award home.
“This is a great inspiration for my ministry and I hope my fans vote massively for me before the closing date on May 30. This is not my glory but the whole of Ghana,” she said.
