People with disabilities angry with Communities
The President of Ghana Federation of People with Disabilities at the Asutifi North District in the Brong Ahafo Region, Kofi Sekyere, has said the communities they find themselves in are not helping them to achieve their goals.
Speaking to the news team of Anapua radio 105.1 at Kenyasi in the Brong Ahafo region, the president lamented that people with disabilities are not properly taken care off by the people in all communities they find themselves in to the extent that the visually impaired ones even do not get assistance when they want to cross road.
Again the various institutions, being government or private do not pay special attention to them by employing some of them who have the required certificates to work just like the able ones.He said most organizations within the district are not disability friendly at all.
According to him, even the Palaces in the Districts do not welcome them to showcase the challenges being encountered on a daily bases for the traditional leaders to find solutions.
Kofi Sekyere is appealing to the District Chief Executive,Traditional councils and the communities to desist from such acts towards the physically challenged people because they also have roles to play to make Ghana move forward in terms of development.
