Piracy is killing Ghanaian movie industry – Actor Michael Afrane
Renowned Ghanaian Actor, Michael Afrane has admitted that there are lots of malfeasances that are hindering the progress of the Ghana film industry.
The Ghana film industry most especially the Kumasi movie makers have been criticized by some entertainment pundits across the country of degrading the reputation of the industry.
Many industry players have condemned the modus operandi of the Kumawood movie producers and directors, describing them of lacking ideas and skills in film making whilst others have also commended them for bringing the Ghana Film Industry in a lime light.
Speaking in an interview on Ashh fm entertainment zone in Kumasi, the Kumawood Production Manager of the Year, Michael Afrane rejected the claims that producers and directors should be hold accountable for denting the film industry.
Michael Afrane who has been in the Industry for the past 14years attributed the sinking of the film industry to all key players who form part in the film making.
‘’We cannot blame producers, directors, production managers, and other crew members for denting our industry’s credibility. Some of the actors, the marketers and distributors in Kejetia too form part of the sinking of the industry.”
He said ‘’Piracy and CD rentals’’ also play a major role in the collapsing of the industry.
Michael Afrane who is also an assembly member in Bosomtwe District further called for education forum for producers, directors, production managers and crew members to upgrade their skills in film making.
