The motivation for shooting at Machinege’s home fitness studio in Atelier Ridgeville is still unknown.

UK-based Mpho Magwaza was attending a virtual cardio session when Mamachine was shot dead.

“Immediately after this person stepped in, I realized something was wrong and saw him fire two shots and couldn’t sleep all night.”

She explains that the shooter appeared to be comfortable and long-lived after the shooting waiting for Machinege to die.

“This guy didn’t feel mercy, he just killed him in the coldest way.”

Magwaza said he met a 40-year-old trainer who was overweight and depressed two years ago and soon became a friend and personal trainer, improving his physical and mental health.

“He didn’t show sympathy,” says a client who witnessed the murder of Lawrence Machinege.
