All is set for the Milton Keynes Cultural Expo ‘15 scheduled for Saturday, July 25, 12:00 noon, at the Milton Keynes Central Shopping Mall. The theme for the day is; ‘Celebrating all cultures’.
The event presented by international fashion house, Tetteh Plahar Designs in conjunction with MK Melting Pot, is an exciting mix of fashion, music, dance and other cultural activities to celebrate the diverse cultures in Milton Keynes and also promote a ‘Multicultural UK’.
The event organizer Adewunmi Jade Jaiyeola, said the activities on the bill are aimed at empowering the people of Milton Keynes to identify and develop their potential while celebrating their cultures and promoting their values.
“The event is also intended to raise awareness of the needs and aspirations of individuals and groups to enable them to fully integrate into their localities. We expect over 500 guests, including the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Derek Eastman and other dignitaries, who will engage in healthy interactions that will actually engender true unity,” noted Ms Jaiyeola.
In a statement, Ghanaian International fashion Designer Tetteh Plahar, confirmed that he will present his latest collection at the event to stimulate the interest of guests in authentic African designs, saying his styles are a unique blend inspired by globalization, architecture and taxidermy.
“This level of conceptual fashion will focus on creating an entertaining appeal to the audience,” he pointed out.
Vibrant shades of green, pink and orange with splashes of metallic shades of silver, gold and bronze will be dominant in the collection.
Structural shapes of symmetric and asymmetric lines embellished with African wax prints, beads and sequins will also form a key part of the collection.
The selection of models for the catwalk reflects the multicultural layout of Milton Keynes. Their sizes range from 6 to 16, and ages between 15 and 60s.
This is aimed at presenting a show that will appeal to people of all ages and sizes and also attempt to reinvent the perception of catwalk models and also eradicate the size zero trend.
