TV Actress Lyn Peters Dies at Age 72
Actress Lyn Peters, who played roles in such 1960s TV series as “Batman”, “Get Smart” and “Hogan’s Heroes”, passed away on Tuesday, September 10 at her Palm Springs home at the age of 72. Peters, who is the step-grandmother of “Arrested Development” actress Alia Shawkat, is also the widow of another TV actor, Paul Burke, who died four years ago from leukemia and non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
The Argentina-born and London-raised Peters was first a fashion model before she became a Hollywood actress. Among her notable performances was a 1967 three-part episode of ABC series “Batman” where she starred opposite Rudy Vallee, playing Lady Prudence to his Lord Marmaduke Ffogg. The following year, she took on the role of U.S. track and field athlete-sabotaging KAOS agent Emily Neal on NBC’s “Get Smart”.
Peters’ TV credits include her work on “12 O’Clock High”, “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.”, “The Girl From U.N.C.L.E.”, “Daniel Boone”, “It Takes a Thief” and “The Rat Patrol”. She also had minor roles in such movies as 1967’s “In Like Flint” and 1972’s “Grave of the Vampire”.
When she retired from acting in the 1980s, the Le Cordon Bleu culinary school graduate started her own Custom Catering, earning such A-list celebrity clients like Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra. She stayed married to Burke until his death in 2009, after being wed back in 1979, sharing 30 years of wedded bliss together.
