VIDEO: Afia Schwarzenegger Tells Her Story; Set To Launch Campaign Agalinst ‘Fake’ Pastors.
TV presenter and actress, Valentina Agyeiwaa, popularly known as Afia Schwarzenegger has revealed that she wants to empower women, especially Christian women.
Afia Schwarzenegger has been in the news recently for slamming a local pastor, Bishop Obinim, after the latter rained insults on her in his church. In a series of videos released by the actress, she lambasted the pastor, labeling him as a womanizer, thief, among others.
But speaking exclusively on The One Show on Viasat1 last Monday, a calm and collected Afia revealed a few of her life experiences to host, Anita Erskine.
Speaking with Biblical backing, Afia condemned pastors who took advantage of unsuspecting Ghanaian women. She quoted a part of the Bible that says “For lack of knowledge, my people perish,” adding that most of the women who visit these ‘fake’ pastors are traders and market women. She noted that because they are unable to read, a pastor can easily use wrong Bible verses to confuse and defraud them.“I’ve began a campaign titled ‘Stand For Jesus, (no matter what it is).’ Our youth, especially the women, we don’t read the Bible, we don’t know what the Bible says, so we are following these quack doctors!” Afia also added that there are some educated women who also follow such pastors, and she gave an instance when a woman had to give her car to a pastor in exchange for prayers for her marital problems. Although she presented the car to the pastor, her marriage still collapsed.
The controversial TV personality, who is a graduate of Faith Bible Institute, says she is on a church-to-church campaign, and organising a seminar on 3rd January, 2015 for all Christian women. “Just come…let’s talk, let’s discuss things from the Bible. There’s no point in going to pay GHC1,000 just to see somebody and discuss your problem,” she urged.
Speaking further in the interview, Afia expressed her love for Muslims, explaining that from the Chief Imam to the least, “no Muslim will sit for you to mess with the name of Allah or Mohammed,” but that is not the case with Christians. She said “…but Christians folds our arms and watch some nincompoops, scalawags, idiot, mess with the name of Jesus and the name of the Holy Ghost and we take it as a joke.”
Also in the interview, Afia touched her background, her late husband, her children, and the reason for her enrollment at the Bible school. She also commented on her issue with Bishop Obinim, and her advice to everybody.
