“Why Did You Have To Take Such A Long Break”- Okyeame Kwame Asks Rex Omar.
In the music industry where the life span of an average artiste is 3 years and 2 albums, it is shocking that an artiste can go on a ten year break, come back, and make an impact as though he never took a break from music.
The radio played, twitter buzzed, and Facebook wrote as Rex Omar dropped his first single Paapa. The song was so good that BBC called him. A fusion of indigenous rhythmic singing and salsa-style highlife brought out the true meaning of the ‘Paapa’ song.
After listening to it for 13 times in exactly 71 minutes 37 seconds, I couldn’t help but ask why? Rex why did you have to take such a long break. The industry missed you, the youth needed to learn from you, matured minds wanted to enjoy you, and ‘Abiba’s’ waist had stiffened because she had not wiggled in a long time.
I thought this was my singular opinion until I looked around and saw what others had to say; Da hammer of the last two said – “Rex Omar’s Paapa is undoubtedly one of the best songs I’ve heard in recent times. Real music is back in gh. Watch and learn guys.” Bessa Simons said – “This song has come to fill the gap of high-quality music that we have been missing. Great work”
So if you have not heard the song yet, find it below, listen to it, fall in love with it, share it because the amazing Rex Omar is back. And this is what I call the REX-TORATION. I believe he will restore the missing dignity to our music.
