Lydia Forson and Yvonne Nelson Support Black Stars
Two popular Ghanaian actresses, Lydia Forson and Yvonne Nelson, have spoken about the performance of the Black Stars at the ongoing 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
According to Lydia, Ghana’s loss to the USA last Monday does not mean the Black Stars cannot excel at the ongoing tournament. The Black Stars lost 2-1 in their opening match with the USA on Monday night. Ghanaians around the world are yet to recover from what some described as ‘shocking loss.’
Some soccer fans have emphasized the need for the country to scout for quality strikers to score goals. According to the ‘Phone Swap’ actress, who is a keen football fan, Black Stars played very well in their encounter with the USA?
However, final delivery in the goal area affected the team and there is a need to do something about it, she said. “Charlie they played well, USA played a good game as well. We just need a tighter defence and we need to stop kicking such high balls. Atsu kept kicking too high. And we need to take advantage of chances. USA won because they scored by chance goals. They didn’t need an opening; they just tried their luck.
Ghanaians always wait to see an opening first,” Lydia Forson said yesterday when she was asked about her opinion of the Ghana – USA clash.
Yvonne Nelson described the match as heartbreaking. She said the Americans played according to a game plan.
“Charlie. Heartbreaking! US had a plan. They executed it when we least expected it,” Yvonne Nelson told News-One yesterday. Ghana will play Germany in its next match on Saturday.
