Gospel music giants at 2014 Airtel Adom Praiz show class.
It was a night of praise, worship and an enthralling show of stage performance at the Perez Dome on Saturday as six gospel music giants mounted the stage to set in motion the 5th edition of Airtel Adom Praiz.
The atmosphere was illuminated, capturing the smiling faces of the expectant congregants who, three hours after the scheduled time for start of the mega concert, were still trooping into the Dome for what will be a touching night of visitation.
Cece Winans, Israel Houghton, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Cecelia Marfo and a host of others thrilled patrons at last night’s event at the Perez International Church, Dzorwulu, in Accra last night.
The show started with Bishop James Saah sanctifying the gathering with an opening prayer. Then it was lights, screams and applause as Cecila Marfo took to the stage for an energetic performance.
Her powerful voice thundered through the Dome as she took the congregation along with her worship songs.
After a few other great performances by Daughters of Glorious Jesus and Joe Mettle, the show was ushered into the second segment, where Israel Houghton demonstrated to the thousands of excited patrons why he is a Grammy Award winner.
The 43-year-old contemporary Gospel singer, and worship leader and his team shattered the atmosphere with elaborate drumming and feats with the guitar and piano that got the crowd applauding rapturous.
After keeping the crowd waiting for a while, Cece Winans came on stage to put the still charged crowd into further energetic mood with a perfect rendition of ‘Haleluya’, ending her performance with a prayer for the country.
No Tribe ended the night with a show of class as they got the crowd dancing and jumping in pure joy.
Patrons of the gospel musical concert this year have described the event as one of the most thrilling experiences they have had.
However, the event was not without minor criticism from some patrons who were particularly unhappy for the late start.
Host of Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Morning Show programme, Captain Smart emceed the show assisted by Rev Yaw Owusu Ansah.
