VVIP drops new video ‘Book of Hiplife’ directed by Reggie Rockstone.
Hiplife group VVIP has released a new music video directed by one of its members, Reggie Rockstone.
The video, ‘Book of Hiplife’, follows the roaring success chalked up by their first single, ‘Selfie’ released in April this year and a subsequent release of its video in May.
‘Book of Hiplife’, directed by Reggie Rockstone, who recently joined VVIP, then VIP, after Emmanuel Ababio (Promzy) left the music group, was shot by Lex Macarty and Prince Dovola.
Some pioneers and contributors to the growth of the hiplife genre, Ex-Doe, Tic Tac, Sydney, Pozo, Abrewa Nana, Joe Frazier, Okyeame Kwame, Chicago, Sammi B, Eddy Blay, Zapp Mallet, Abraham Ohene Djan and others were cameos in the video.
Reggie Rockstone, tagged as ‘The Godfather’ of hiplife told Myjoyonline.com that the sole aim of the video is “to pay homage to our HIPLIFE [soldiers]! A declaration of some sort to remind the new school we sacrificed for a lot to be as it is today! [Created the] platform for them and also the importance and significance of the brand hiplife and general.”
He revealed that the video was shot months back and “was supposed to be the first single for VVIP actually. GOD is great always. Switched last minute to ‘Selfie’. It makes perfect sense now though!”
Asked if their fans and Ghanaians should expect an album from the group anytime soon, Reggie said not anytime soon.
“We are not gunning for an album now! We will drop a potent single every six months though. We dropped this just to prove a point because ‘Selfie’ is just getting warm but we felt like showing off,” the hiplife legend explained.
VVIP recently featured award winning Hollywood actor Idris Elba in the remix of their ‘Selfie’ single.
Asked when Ghanaians should expect the video for the ‘Selfie’ remix, Reggie Rockstone was not specific but said: “We will sneak in the remix with Idris Elba at some point.”
