I Was A Stubborn Child – Juliet Asante.
Actress cum Producer, Juliet Asante was on The Late Night Celebrity Show (TLNCS) hosted by Vanessa Gyan and shared her struggles at the beginning of her career.
Currently promoting her “SilverRain” movie which premieres this Friday at Silverbird Cinemas she reminisced;
“I didn’t come from a “privileged” background. I grew up in Liberia. Growing up, I was disabled for some time and I overcame that. I came to Ghana and had a difficult time transitioning into the Ghanaian education system. My parents were caught in the Liberian war and lost everything. I was raised by people who were not my parents but they did their best dealing with a stubborn child who had her own creative mind.
“When I started my business, there weren’t mentors to guide me through what I was going to do. I also didn’t have capital. There was a point I was at University of Cape Coast and running my business and I was attending lectures in UCC from Accra.
“This was my first production and so I will come to Accra make sure everything thing was running smoothly, I will go to sleep, wake up at 4am, go to the STC station to ride the bus to Cape Coast for my first lecture. I close at 12pm for my first lecture, get on the bus and head back to Accra. It was a cycle for my final year at UCC.
“I started my business with just a mobile phone and it took me five years to get my first sponsor. And my first programme was Life and Style.” She concluded.
