Did you know that there exist a copyleft licenses that you can make use of to promote your creative or art work? It is high time Ghanaians made use of such licenses to promote sharing, learning and even earning some money into their pockets. Creative Common (CC) license has a host of the several public copyright license that enables the free distribution of an otherwise copyrighted work. A CC license is used when an author wants to give people the right to share, use, and build upon a work that they have created. CC provides an author flexibility (for example, they might choose to allow only non-commercial uses of their own work) and protects the people who use or redistribute an author’s work from concerns of copyright infringement as long as they abide by the conditions that are specified in the license by which the author distributes the work. Creative Commons licenses do not replace copyright, but are based upon it. Open Foundation West Africa, aims to educate Ghanaians on the use of Creative Commons licenses coming January 7, 2016. This is an opportunity for many Ghanaians to get educated and enlightened by this important and useful license.
