DCE Outlines measures to boost cocoa output in Asutifi South District
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Asutifi South District (B.A) has outlined measures to boost cocoa cultivation and harvest by farmers in the District.
Speaking to Anapua News, Honourable (Hon) Dwomoh Mensah Robert said the District is one of the leading cocoa producing district in the region but from his survey, most cocoa farmers do not sell their cocoa to the cocoa clerks in the District but rather sell to those in Tepa and Goaso (both not part of Asutifi South District)
According to him, the Assembly has decided to approach all cocoa buying companies and advise those companies to establish their branch offices in the District in order to prevent farmers selling cocoa from the District to other towns outside the Asutifi South District .
He added that the District is unable to benefit from cocoa related allocated funds by the government due to the lower quantities of cocoa realized at the District. As such the district does not benefit from things such as “cocoa roads”, scholarship and others.
Hon. Dwomoh Mensah appealed to Nananom in the Asutifi South District to support the Assembly in its effort to boost cocoa production and district sales in order to further develop the community.
