Arsenal possible moves for £43m Thomas Partey transfer
ARSENAL might have to sacrifice at least one of four players in order to sign Thomas Partey.
The Gunners are keen to sign the Ghanaian midfielder from Atletico Madrid this summer, with a fee of £43million being mooted.
But the revolving door could be put to full use at the Emirates this summer as Mikel Arteta continues to out his own imprint on the squad.
Partey was enjoying a stellar season in LaLiga before the coronavirus pandemic brought action to a standstill.
Arsenal could be sweating that a failure to bag a Champions League spot could cost them – they are in ninth and eight points off fourth-placed Chelsea.
Football London thinks there could potentially be four players who could leave North London to make room for the combative 26-year-old if they manage to convince him.
ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE
Arsenal could have an advantage in the Partey chase in that Atletico reportedly want to sign Alexandre Lacazette.
Atter a fine 2018/19 season, the French forward has looked far from his best this season.
This has led to the 28-year-old being linked with a summer moves away from the Emirates, with Atletico keen.
The Gunners could put forward Lacazette in a swap deal for Partey.
MATTEO GUENDOUZI
The French midfielder started to look a little out of his depth when the pressure began to grow under Unai Emery’s disatrous spell in charge.
While Mikel Areta has taken the heat off Guendouzi by rotating him since taking over, his form has gone off the boil.
He didn’t help his case by having a training ground bust-up with an unnamed team-mate, and then being told off by club bosses for partying with his top off in a Dubai training camp.
But shipping out player might come as a surprise to many seen that he is still only 21 years old.
LUCAS TORREIRA
Despite being somewhat of a fans’ favourite for his tenacity, Torreira has failed to find his feet in the Premier League.
And with Granit Xhaka usually occupying the defensive role this season, Torreira has been a bit-part player.
AC Milan are reportedly lining up a fresh £35million swoop for the midfielder after they failed in their bid to bring him back to Italy last summer.
The Uruguayan, 24, was on the radar of the Serie A giants last summer but failed to move.
PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG
Arsenal are caught between a rock and a hard place when it comes to their star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gabon international has just another year on his current deal, and has showed no signs he is ready to sign a new one.
That could force the Gunners to sell on the player rather than lose him on a free – with SunSport reporting he could go for just £30m.
While that seems chicken feed for the 20-goal top scorer, it would go some way to snapping up Partey.
