Asutifi North District marks Global Hand Washing Day at Ntotroso
The Asutifi North District in the Brong Ahafo region has today celebrated this year’s Global Hand Washing Day under the theme ” Clean Hand, A Recipe For Health” at Ntotroso in the district.
The event which was staged at the old lorry station was attended by the Executives of the assembly, Education Directorate Executives, Health Executives, Chiefs, Pastors, Teachers, Executives of NADeF, Pupils and the Media.
According to Felicia Larbi of the Education Directorate, the purpose of the exercise is to educate the pupils on how to properly wash their hands to prevent infections which might be an obstacle to their studies.
She said, the day must be well recognised by the people of the district because the district has an initiative termed ” Water Sanitation Hygiene” (WASH) which is in line the Global Hand washing Day.
She also presented 50 plastic buckets from Newmont Ahafo Company to schools (public and private) in the Ntotroso Circuit to boost the hand washing initiative for better health.
Health Workers took time to educate the pupils and the public on how to undertake proper hand washing which should not be more than one minute.
Demonstrating to them, Abiba Sule, said that the washing of hands must be done with running water and carbonated soaps and completed with a clean napkin.” There are infections related to improper hand washing so all must be aware” she said.
Speakers like the Education Director, NADeF Executive Secretary, Planning Officer, Chief and many more educated them on how important it is to observe the day and proper hand washing.
