Chieftaincy & Religious Affairs Minister visits Chiefs of Asutifi North District
The Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister, Hon. Samuel Kofi Dzamesi and some Dignitaries from Accra and Brong Ahafo region have today paid a day visit to Chiefs of three Asutifi North communities where illegal mining is found.
Honourable Samuel Kofi Dzamesi was accompanied by the District Chief Executive, President of the House of Chief in Brong Ahafo region, President of Queen mothers in Brong Ahafo region,Member of the council of state, Member of the office of President and many more.
The purpose of the visit was to meet the Chiefs and Opinion leaders in Ntotroso, Kenyasi No 1 and Kenyasi No 2 to find the best way to ensure that the practice of illegal mining (galamsey) is totally eradicated as vowed by the President of Ghana.
The meeting of the chiefs and the Opinion Leaders was held at their respective palace with the exception of Ntotroso which was staged at the Berimah Twereko Ampem Assembly Hall at the Ntotroso College of Nursing.
Hon. Samuel Kofi Dzamesi outlined measures to be taken by the government to combat the Galamsey menace which include the use of drones.
Speeches were made by most of the gignitaries and they outlined the best way to erase the menace and the dreadful effect that Galamsey poses to the environment.
Questions and recommendations were welcomed as Chiefs and Opinion leaders expressed their happiness for the visit.
