Superstar Beyonce got staff at an Essex chicken restaurant in a flap when she ordered over £1,400 (approx GHS 4,800) worth of food from them.
The food from Nando’s in Chelsmford was for the singer and her entourage after she performed as the headline act at the V Festival in Hylands Park in the town on Saturday night.
According to an apparent copy of the order posted on Twitter, it was made by telephone for takeaway and included 58 wing platters, 48 whole chickens, 12 veggie burgers, 24 coleslaws and 24 rice dishes – totalling £1,444.10
It is not the first time Beyonce has spent a large amount in Nando’s. Earlier this year the 31-year-old splashed out over £800 (approx GHS 2,677) in a Dublin branch of the restaurant chain. Helen Cable, an employee of the Chelmsford restaurant, tweeted: ‘Too excited that Beyonce is ordering a Nandos from us ?? if only she would pick it up herself!’
Her brother Alex Cable tweeted a copy of the apparent order and said: ‘So, my little sister works in Nandos in Chelmsford. Beyonce ordered £1,500 after her show on Saturday! £beyonce’
It had the name of the person ordering the food ‘Beyonce K’ on the order.
There was plenty of reaction on the social network, including from Alex Dowsett who said: ‘Love that Beyonce bought her team a nandos from Chelmsford. Just the £1443 worth of chicken. £lad(ette)’
A source at Nando’s confirmed it WAS a genuine order for Beyonce and her entourage.
But a spokesman for Nando’s said: ‘We never discuss the identity of our customers for reasons of privacy.’
