Brazilian footballer, Kaka’s ex wife says ‘he was too perfect for me’, as the reason for divorcing him
The ex-wife of Brazilian icon Kaka has revealed the bizarre reason as to why they split up.
Kaka, 41, enjoyed a glittering career for the likes of Sao Paulo, AC Milan, Real Madrid and Orlando City, before retiring in 2017.
In 2005, during the time that he was shining for AC Milan, Kaka married his childhood sweetheart, Caroline Celico.
They have a son and a daughter together, but announced on social media they were splitting in 2015 after 10 years of marriage.
And, as reported by The Sun, Celico – who has since remarried – explained why they decided to split.
‘Kaka never betrayed me,’ she said. ‘He treated me well, he gave me a wonderful family, but I was not happy, something was missing.
‘The problem was, he was too perfect for me.’
Kaka is known as a devout Christian and during their marriage Celico, a Brazilian socialite, joined the football star’s church, before becoming an Evangelical pastor.
She quit that role in 2010 and set up Horizontal Love, a charity which provides supplies for food, hygiene, construction and education to Brazilian non-governmental organisations.
Since their split, Kaka has moved on and began dating current partner Carolina Dias in 2017.
The pair announced their engagement earlier this year, while Kaka also has a one-year-old daughter with the Brazilian model.
When revealing they would be getting married, Kaka said: ‘You made me the happiest man on earth!
‘I promise to give you back and make you the happiest woman in the world. I love you.’
Kaka’s highly decorated career in the game saw him win 12 trophies, including the Champions League and World Cup, while he also scored 29 times in 92 caps for Brazil.
