Brong Ahafo Regional Minister launches The Asutifi North District “Wash” Initiative
The Asutifi North District “Water Sanitation Hygiene”(WASH) initiative has been launched today by the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister under the theme ” Partnerships For Shared and Sustainable Management of Water and Sanitation for All by 2030″.
The event which was staged at the Nana Osei Kofi Abiri Social Centre in Kenyasi the district capital was attended by the B/A Regional Minister, Member of Parliament for Asutifi North Constituency, Asutifi North District Chief Executive, Chiefs,Assembly members, Departmental Heads, International Rescue Committee Executives, Students and the Media.
The purpose of the WASH initiative is to ensure that by the 2030 all the residents within the district would have access to clean and hygienic water in order to avoid several water-borne diseases recorded by the District.
In addition, the WASH programme would implement technology to manage refuse generated in the district as to avoid
the rate at which refuse been dumped anywhere by the people within the district will be no more because the WASH programme will ensure that adequate gadget are put in place to control refuse generated by residents to avoid diseases occured by poor sanitation.
The WASH initiative will also assist the District to provide excellent hygiene to the people because once there is good hygiene,development is rest assured.Measures will be in place for perfect hygiene for the residents in the District.
The WASH initiative is hugely supported by International Rescue Committe (IRC) which is a Non-Governmental Organisation.
