COVID-19: Local cases now 5,127
Ghana’s COVID-19 case count has increased by 427, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 5,127.
According to the Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kumah Aboagye, 272 of the cases were recorded in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
Dr Aboagye, who made this known at a press briefing in Accra on Tuesday, said the total number of recoveries remained at 494, with 22 deaths.
He said however that his outfit was awaiting the second results of some 130 patients who had tested negative for the coronavirus disease.
He said active cases as of Monday, May 11, was 4,611 with five critically ill.

Obuasi residents protest
Meanwhile, some residents in Obuasi on Monday protested the siting of an isolation centre in the township.
According to them, the siting of the centre posed a health risk to them.
