From Beer Bar To Sofo Maame, GLORIA APPIAH
F-FIVE is a segment which runs on Anapua’s Drive Time Show from 7:30pm to 8pm. Inside the segment, we talk about the secret behind the successful people in the Region, most especially our community.
Our guest last week was Gloria Appiah, a gospel musician who started singing when she was 9 years of age. She is also the wife of Paul Appiah , Pastor in charge of Redeemer Church, Hwidiem B/A.
She shared with us her secret of success and some few challenges she has been through.
“God has been my secret of success and my sources of inspiration. He took me from nowhere and made me who i am today.”
Gloria Appiah, previously a Beer Bar Operator has one album to her credit, “KAE ME”. This was just released last year and is gaining massive airplay in GH. As the saying goes hard work equals success. She lamented that her success wasn’t on a silver plater however and also gave enormous credit to husband for this blessing.
In her words, “Sometime ago in Goaso, my friends and I wanted to migrate from Goaso to Kumasi because the men there didn’t like us. So thinking we will be new to the men in Kumasi not knowing it was character problem. We didn’t know when you choose to be with God, all that He has said upon you shall come to pass.”
I escorted my husband to a marriage blessing at a nearby town called Nkaseim at the early stage of our marriage. After the introduction, a man who use to drink from my Bar/ spot approached me and out of surprise said: “From Beer Bar to Sofo Maame” and I responded “that is how God works.”
Asked whether the mother of three children gets time out of her huge responsibilities to relax, she said “I have a time table for my daily activities because there is time for everything.
