Professor George Benneh, a former Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Ghana, has advised unemployed graduates to take advantage of Information Communication and Technology (ICT), to source for employment abroad.
Professor George Benneh, a former Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Ghana, has advised unemployed graduates to take advantage of Information Communication and Technology (ICT), to source for employment abroad.
He regretted that instead of students and other professionals taking the numerous opportunities created by ICT to improve on their studies and professional lives, many of them were rather misusing such opportunities.
Prof Benneh gave the advice when he inaugurated an ICT centre he constructed for the Berekum College of Education.
According to the Former VC, the George Benneh ICT Gentre, fully furnished with modern computers, air conditioner, and hooked onto the internet, was his contribution to enhance effective teaching and learning of ICT in the institution.
Prof Benneh also cut the sod for construction work to begin on a-three-million-dollar ICT and Vocational Training Centre in the Berekum Municipality.
On completion, the Centre will assemble and repair mobile phones, offer training on computer hardware, software and other trades like masonry, carpentry, auto mechanics and metal works.
Prof Benneh emphasized that the only way he could give back to society was to support the youth to take advantage of ICT to improve on contemporary methods of learning.
He explained that the positive aspect of ICT outweighs the negatives, and entreated students and teachers to take good care of the facility, and use it to do research in their studies.
Mr Kenneth Benjamin Hayford, the Vice Principal of the Berekum College of Education, thanked the Benneh family for the support, and gave the assurance that the College Authorities would take proper care of it, for the benefit of more students.
