Hitz FM’s Black I soothes pain of visually impaired.
Their impairment always leaves them on the fringes and unattended to but the love and care of Hitz FM’s Morning Show host Clarence Kwesi Appiah popularly known as Black I put smiles on the faces of children at the Akropong School of the Blind.
He decided not to cool off in a Jacuzzi or spa in an exotic setting in the nation’s capital or huddle with friends at a lavish party but rather shared the blessing of his 34th birthday with those who cannot see the pleasures of this world, the blind.
Black I, known for his great sense of humor, wakes up listeners of Hitz 103.9 FM with his morning show Daybreak Hitz which runs from 6am to 10 am every weekday.
He however moved his talent to the Eastern regional town on the Akropong hills for 24 hours as he wined and dined with the children.
Ably supported by the Hitz FM family, his mother, close relatives and friends, Black I highlighted the importance of sharing with the less privileged in society.
“It is our responsibility to put a smile on their faces and let them feel cared for in any way that we can.”
Mother of the birthday celebrant, Kate Acheampong, expressed her gratitude to the school authorities for allowing her son spend the day with the children.
The children, who had more than enough food and drinks, showed just why they should not be forgotten by unearthing their talents by singing melodious gospel tunes, a special rap battle and taking turns at standup comedy.
They emphasized through their performance that disability is not equivalent to inability.
