IGP sacks personnel of MTTU in Sunyani
The Police Administration has announced the sacking of all police personnel of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Police Service in Sunyani following allegations of corruption leveled against them.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has also directed that all the MTTU personnel in the Regional Headquarters be transferred from their current locations with immediate effect.
The Director-General of the MTTU, ACP Angwutubuge Awuni, confirmed to Accra based Joy FM on Friday that everyone, from the Regional MTTU Commander down to the lowest ranked officer in the Unit, had been affected by the directive.
He said the IGP was not happy with the conduct of the affected personnel numbering about 30 who were said to have compromised their professional standards.
Daily Guide was hinted that ACP Awuni stormed Sunyani on Thursday in an unannounced fact-finding mission to authenticate the truth or otherwise of the allegations.
It was not clear to the public what actually had caused the mass transfer of the Brong Ahafo MTTU headquarters personnel from the region.
ACP Awuni further indicated that the Police Administration would continue to monitor the conducts of the affected officers in wherever Units they would be sent to.
He described corruption as a national canker which needed the collaboration of all Ghanaians to join the efforts of the police administration to raise a crusade to fight against it.
