Abraham, who is 14, won the Marcello Mastroianni’s Best Young Actor Award at the 2015 Venice Film Festival for his lead performance in a movie titled ‘Beasts of No Nation’. He featured alongside Idris Elba.
Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy who describes Abraham as his buddy says he is overwhelmed by the teenager’s sucess.
“I knew he was going to win the award when I watched the trailer, so I was not surprised at all. I was rather over excited because this is somebody I know,” he told Black I on Daybreak Hitz (Showbiz Review) show on Hitz FM.
“I met him a long time ago at the toll booth where he comes to sell, so anytime he stops by my car we interact for some time.”
“When I watched the trailer, I started screaming ohhhh I know this boy from somewhere and then lo and behold it was my ‘guy’ so it makes me really happy,” he said cheerfully.
Stonebwoy, who is believed to be a voice for the youths of Ashaiman, trumpeted Abraham’s feat which he says serves as inspiration to all.
“There could not be any much example such as myself and Abraham’s recent success, so it doesn’t matter where you come from neither where you live but how best you can manage situation hoping that it will get well one day.”
