By the look of things, Kumawood actors are not happy about the list of celebrities the Ministry of Sports selected as ambassadors for this year’s world cup. OMG! Ghana.com exclusively reported about how Kumasi-based actors are angry about their exclusion from the list.
Bill Asamoah led the group to speak on their behalf and a couple of actors from that side of the industry have joined him. Kwaku Manu shared his opinion about it and now it’s the time of Mr. Beautiful, the man who says he will forever and ever support the NDC.
From GC, the battle for supremacy between the two sides of the Ghanaian movie industry-Kumawood and Ghollywood lives on, with a statement by Kumawood actor-Mr. Beautiful (real name Clement Bonney) indicating that Kumawood is winning the fight.
On Peace Fm’s Entertainment Review on Saturday, Mr. Beautiful stated among other things that, the Kumawood actors are far popular than the Ghollywood actors. Therefore, the Ministry of Sports having picked John Dumelo and Jackie Appiah as ambassadors for the 2014 World Cup without any Kumawood actor having been considered was a big Wrong move.
Mr. Beautiful mentioned that, he does not see any reason why actors like Lil Win, Kwaku Manu, Kyeiwaa and others were not picked or considered, rather two English speaking actors – John Dumelo and Jackie Appiah were chosen.
He added that, John Dumelo was only known by Legon students while the popularity of the Kumawood actor’s cuts across Ghana and even beyond.
From your own estimation and experience, which industry’s actors are popular? Kumawood or Ghollywood? Do you think Mr. Beautiful is right?
