Juventus star Angel Di Maria’s home target of robbery attempt
According to La Repubblica, police arrested one of the burglars who broke into Juventus midfielder Angel Di Maria’s Turin home today, bringing back painful memories for the former PSG and Manchester United player.
It’s reported the incident occurred this evening, so Di Maria and his family were probably at home.
The gang managed to break in, but was chased away by a passing police car and one of them was arrested while trying to flee.
There are even some reports that gunfire was heard during the chase, which concluded in via Luisa del Carretto in front of witnesses.
It is all very familiar for the Argentina international, who was substituted during Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 game against Nantes in March 2021 when the club was alerted his home was broken into.
L’Equipe reported at the time that the gang had targeted the homes of both Di Maria and his PSG teammate Marquinhos simultaneously during the match, knowing they would be away.
They got away with jewellery and watches reported to be worth over €500,000 from Di Maria’s house.
Before that, Di Maria was the victim of a robbery in Manchester in February 2015, when he was eating dinner with his family, scaring away the thieves.
