Luciano Set To Rock La Beach On October 12.
He was here in 2007 for a mega concert at the Independence Square in Accra and the memory of that blissful night is likely to enliven Jamaican roots reggae superstar, Luciano, as he returns to Accra for a concert on October 12 at La Beach.
Known for inspiring tracks like God Is My Friend, It’s Me Again Jah, Oh Father I Love Thee, Jah Is My Navigator and United States Of Africa, Luciano is highly respected for his conscious reggae that reflects his religious and social concerns.
“We know Luciano has a large following here for his meaningful lyrics and gripping melodies,” says Black Santino whose Yard N Foryn Crew company is collaborating with Black Ceasar Promotion to bring down the reggae gem.
“Even before he came here for the first time, his songs were well-known and loved. He is excited to be coming back and we are looking forward to a great bash with him.”
Rising to prominence in the mid-1990s, Luciano has often criticized other reggae artists for the slackness of some of their songs, saying they have lost focus.
The man himself has sometimes been criticized for the reading of Biblical verses prior to performances. Whichever way, the 50-year-old has managed to effectively stay on course as a positive-minded and very entertaining showman.
Ghanaian acts lined up to appear on the show include Stonebwoy, Knii Lante, Mzvee, Edem and Culture Levi. A representative of Black Ceasar Promotion hinted of a possible Luciano second show in Accra or Kumasi after the La Beach affair.
