No Pay No Work – Zoomilion workers
Zoomlion Workers in the Asutifi North District in the Brong Ahafo region have today vowed not to show up for work if the authorities do not pay them their salaries.
Workers claim that for the past four to five months their salaries have not been paid despite several pleas to management and as such they have reached their breaking point.
The News Team spoke with the Brong Ahafo regional Public Job Manager of Zoomlion, George Manu, and he said, the outfit is aware of the strike of the workers in the District which he described as unfortunate.
He went on to say that Zoomlion cannot be blamed for the non payment of over due salaries because Zoomlion itself had not received payment from the responsible government agency.
He pleaded with them to return to post because from Monday 17th September onwards their salaries would be paid as the said agency has given Zoomlion that assurance.
George Manu who tagged the workers of the District as the best in the region due to how they manage waste in the area advised them to go to work because their actions will lead several people to the health centers because of filth.
Since the strike, the environmental health department is cleaning the District on temporary basis to avoid the pile up of waste.
