Part 3 – GA State needs a legitimate King?
(A continuation to Part 1 and Part 2)
(Intercepted Document 3 of many)
In a letter dated 27th November, 2006 from the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase and addressed to the President, Ga Dangme Association, the presently ninety three (93) year old, Nii Agyemangkese II & Head of Tackie Komey We noted the following:-
–

A call to all members of the 4 Ruling Houses to attend meetings does not mean the Dsase had to be re-constituted, given another name and have powers of the Dsase ‘hijacked’. Revamping attendance to meetings was an important message.
– The current Dsase made up of the four (4) Ruling Houses have been in existence for over 5 decades and was an off-shoot of a century old Dsase,
– It was this same old Dsase that installed the late Nii Amugi II and will continue to function as such – “Blema kpnaa, no n) atsaa” literally translated as ‘we continue from where our fore fathers left off’.
– It was clear that a certain group from Amugi We, notably the late Nii Amugi’s brothers and relating Yarteys were absent without justifiable reasons.
– The intensions of an illegal splinter reconstituted dsase/group raises eyebrows as to what their acts were to be as an Approved Dsasetse from Amugi We, in the person of Nii Tetteh Kwei II had been installed to oversee the burial of the late Nii Amugi II.
– The late Dr. Joe Blankson was the convener of the illegal reconstituted dsase by name Ga Royal Stool Dzase and Nii Akropong was also present to serve their common purpose.
– To Nii Agyemankese II, it sounded preposterous that the same illegal dzase kicked against Dr. Joe Blankson,
– Most importantly, Team GMK can confidently say it agrees with Nii Agyemankese II that “the illegally newly re-constituted body had no focus or sense of direction, it was in a confused state and if allowed to operate as a dzase, they would plunge the Ga State into chaos. GMK’s question is – has this manifested? The answer is a capital YES!!.
– The document further emphasized the installation of Nii Tetteh Kwei II repeating that the ploy adopted by Nii Nabi Anyaa Tackie Yaboi (a.k.a. Fingers purportedly acting as a ……….. ) to bring in Nii Tetteh Kwei as a Dsasetse was not the proper procedure, so the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase had to go through the right process to install Nii Tetteh Kwei II.
– The Ga Paramount Stool Dsase had installed a number of Dsasetemei in the persons of Nii Yartey Kwashie I and another person who was whisked away by his children.
– Emphatically, the document revealed that Dsasetemei had been from Nii Botchway Kuple and Nii Tetteh Kwei from Ayikwei Tse Kpono’s lineage from Adaanu of Tunma We. There was no evidence proving that the Yarteys have ever been installed as Dsasetsemei instead they were positioned as Fathers of the Stool/Sentsemei.
– Rituals & Totem as custom demands by Sakumo Wolomo, the Chief Priest had been done for Nii Tetteh Kwei II and it is irreversible and the purported dzasetse by name Yoate Oto-Ga should know that from the House of Yarteys, the Ga-State cannot have a Ga Mantse by name Simeon Yarboi Yartey i.e. Nii Amugi II and also a dzasetse at the same time.
– That after the late Nii Amugi II circumvented the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase and nominated his own group/dsase, he fell on all fours because the Regional House of Chiefs nullified his installation of a dsasetse.
– In order that the relation between the Yartey’s and Tetteh Kwei’s all of the same Royal Gate Amugi We does not turn sour, the Yartey brother Nii Yaote Oto-Ga should allow equity & peace to reign in their own Amugi We Royal Gate.
Signatories to this in-depth analysis were the Accredited Heads of the 4 Ruling Houses being Nii Agyemangkese II, Nii Teiko Abonua IV, Nii Yaya Addy and Nii Ayaa Quaye plus those of the Secretary and Coordinator.

On Friday, January, 12, 2007, newtimesonline.com placed on its site ‘GA STATE UNITES …..for royal funeral’, that was a story by Edmund Mingle. This storyline sought to push information to the public that the funeral for the late Dr. Joe Blankson had been slated for January 27, 2007. In a pose accompanying the storyline, Nii Yarlai Yartey, then Acting Head of Amugi We and Nii Ayaa Kwei, head of the Tetteh Kwei section also of Amugi We were seen shaking hands to signify peace and unity. Presently, it is known that the mortal remains of Dr. Joe Blankson was buried in London, UK and it is yet to be re-buried in Accra.
Team GMK believes that it behoves on any legitimate Ga Mantse to see to this even if the million-cedi question below cannot be answered.
‘Will Dr. Joe Blankson be re-buried as a King or as a member of a Royal Stock since his claim to the throne has been squashed by the Dodowa Regional House of Chiefs?”

Later part of January, 2007, the authoritative Daily Graphic released a News Desk Report headed “New GA MANTSE nominated …. He’s Kelvin Nii Tackie”.
In this report, the Daily Graphic sought to inform readers worldwide that the Kingmakers of the Teiko Tsuru Royal Ruling House had nominated a certain Kelvin Tackie as Ga Mantse and he was to be presented to the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase for assessment leading to final installation to succeed the late Nii Amugi II.
This decision was arrived at when the Teiko Tsuru Royal Ruling House was called into a meeting for a Resolution to be passed. Four (4) candidates emerged and eight (8) votes were cast. In all, Dr. E. N. A. Tackie emerged the winner with four (4) votes while George Tackie (purportedly styling himself as Ga Mantse with the stool name Nii Adama Latse II) had two (2) votes. Nii Armah (Nungua) and Christopher Tackie had one (1) vote each. The Committee declared Dr. Tackie the winner and he decided to pass on the privilege to his son Kelvin Tackie. George Tackie is said to have played a role at the Committee’s meeting by showing his gratitude and finally prayed for the successful enthronement for the Teiko Tsuru Royal House’s candidate – Kelvin Tackie.
When Team GMK intercepted a copy of the Resolution, we asked a few questions and as usual here they are:-
– How can Dr. Tackie/Kelvin Tackie be deprived of their right to ascend unto the throne as Ga Mantse when they won the election in their own Ruling House?
– Why is George Tackie (purportedly styling himself as Ga Mantse with the stool name Nii Adama Latse II) ‘hijacking’ the throne which does not belong to him?
– Can we say that George Tackie is not aware of the happenings around him?
– Who has helped in perpetuating this crime against Dr. Tackie/Kelvin Tackie that ought to be exposed?
– Was the GA Mantse seat for sale to the highest bidder?
– Can we speculate that the long arm of Government can be seemingly seen hovering around?
Answers to some of these questions were later made known to Team GMK. You are encouraged to read on.
(Intercepted Document 6 of many)
The Ga State has a number of priests in its Traditional Area but the Acclaimed Chief Priest of the Ga people is the Sakumo Wulomo. He is known to have the capacity to do and undo usually in tandem with the Ga Dsase.
Team GMK reveals that in a letter dated 5th February, 2007 from the Chief Priest of the Ga Traditional Area Numo Ogbarmey III and addressed to Dr. K. B. Asante, President and Membership of the Ga Dangme Council (Association) and headed ‘Report on the Arbitration by the Ga Dangme Council on the issue of Ga Royal Stool Dsasetse’ is a very serious document.
Team GMK quotes “As the Accredited High Priest of the Sakumo We shrine house; vested with the sole prerogative by Ga custom, tradition and usage to observe, perform, protect and enforce the various Ga customary ritual rites, usage and observations as far back as the establishment of the Ga States, wish to call your association to customary order, as far as your recommendations /ruling on the above subject matter is concerned.
Foremost, I wish to make it clear to your association as per your report; you cannot arrogate to yourself powers “I quote, to ascertain the requisite customs and traditions applicable to the nomination, election and installation of a Dsasetse of the Ga States, according to Ga custom and to make recommendations that would facilitate the choosing of one Dsasetse for the Ga State unquote” because you as a non-traditional body, are not vested with such power”.
It is the sole right of Team GMK to hold on to parts of this document for very special reasons. Summing up the document, it only meant that the Association had put out a report that did not go down too well with the Sakumo Wolomo.
The document also sought to explain the position and importance of a Dsasetse in the making of a Ga Mantse. Explaining further, it stated that, the Yartey Gate can not customary enjoy the position of a Dsasetse without the knowledge, consent and full approval of the Ayikweitse Kpono Gate. (Both Gates are in the Adaasa We). Ayikweitse Kpono Gate is the original owners of the Amugi We Royal Ruling House and this explained why the Yartey Gate had no land, room or shrine house in Amugi We. Additionally, the Yartey Gate cannot worship the shrine god of the Ayikweitse Kpono We without their knowledge and consent because they are not known by the shrine god.
The above information Team GMK gathered, explains thoroughly why the purported nomination, election and installation of Yartey Oto-Ga (whose real name is Yartey Toga and currently styles himself as Ga Dsasetse ) is NULL and VOID.
Then can Team GMK be right is concluding that the purported position that Yartey Oto-Ga is clinging on to is so illegal and shameful? It is interesting to note that a suit was later filed against him and we await the results.
At this information, we heaved a sigh of relief, at least high level and successful Ga figures are coming into the game, as against our earlier thinking that the chieftancy plane is being left to indigenes who are yet to hit the highest realm in their fields of education and business.
Team GMK says a Bravo to Nii Tetteh Kwei II and to the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase for such a choice. Very usual of Team GMK, we are wondering what ‘magical’ change can the Dsasetse bring to the Ga Mantse Stool. In our world, the question is ‘What is he bringing to the table?’. If his appointment will continue to see the Ga State in a deplorable state then, we might as well forget.
Team GMK also noted that since ‘wonsom wonsom, wo ni nipa’, who are the other members of the Dsase that he would be working with? If they are not forthright in their thoughts then we will surely be going after them!!!
Please end here.
Stay tuned for more in subsequent publications.
