Sir Alex Ferguson seriously ill in hospital
Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson remains seriously ill in hospital after having been rushed after suffering a brain haemorrhage.
Ferguson, 76, is one of football’s greatest ever managers having won 13 Premier League titles during his 26 years in the Old Trafford dugout.
He also won 25 other pieces of silverware for United, including five FA Cup titles and two Champions Leagues.
A Manchester United statement on Saturday read: “Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone emergency surgery today for a brain haemorrhage.
“The procedure has gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to optimise his recovery. His family request privacy in this matter.”
Ferguson, who carved a player career in the Scottish leagues, also managed East Sterlingshire, St Mirren, Aberdeen and Scotland.
Son Darren missed his Doncaster side’s last game of the season due to a “severe family issue”.
