MR. Beatutiul Does Not Have Future in Kumawood – REV. Salinko
Clement Boney, known in the movie industry as “Mr. Beautiful”, who once said that the reason why he was no more getting movie roles in Kumawood (term used for movies made in Kumasi mostly done in local dialect) was due to his support for the National Democratic Congress political party (NDC) in their campaign for the 2012 elections now says that he has no regrets for his decision. He went further to criticize the Kumawood industry as one where the movies where filled with insults and thus the reason for its poor patronage. In his opinion he did not view the industry as having a sustainable future.
In an interview with Rev. Salinko aka Sokatoa on Anapua fm Infotertainment show with Kwaku B – De perfect Gentleman, the question was put to the Reverend as to whether the views of “Mr Beautiful” was anything to consider. His candid response was “Maybe it’s Mr. Beautiful who has no future but the industry has”
He added “ It started from “Adam” and it has passed on with generation, it started from Santo and Judas’s era, it passed on to Agya Koo. Salinko took the baton and it’s Lil Win and Kwaku Manu’s turn. It would have died if insult in movies had no future. The truth of the matter is, we have jovial insult and serious insults. What we hear in our movies are jovial not serious once. It has attracted the attention of former and current presidents like JJ Rawlings, J.A Kuffour, Atta Mills and current president John Mahama. This shows that there is nothing wrong with the insults in the movies he added.
